New to the collection!
Check out the start of our Wonderbooks collection from Playaway. Each of the books is an actual print book with a ready-to-play audiobook inside. To listen, kids simply need to press play and then read along with the audio. Ask to see when you visit the library!
Registration required. Call 913-301-3686 to reserve your spot. This will be outdoors. Masks are encouraged but may be removed for your photo.
Join us as we kick off our Tails & Tales summer reading program with Skittles the unicorn! You can pet and pose with this lovely unicorn. We will have a photographer on hand to take your picture free of charge, or you can take your own photos.
While you are here, you will be able to sign up for our Tails & Tales summer reading program.
**In the event of rain, we will have a rescheduled visit.**
Our fitness program will be led by experienced trainer Cassy Ray from Cobra Command CrossFit.
Come have fun in our group fitness class that is great for the entire family (recommended ages 8+). Class will feature interval training with movements meant for anyone to be able to participate, no matter what the fitness level. Intervals will focus on the entire body and will feature core work, cardio and strength for the upper and lower body, a total package!
After the workout we will have a fitness inspired game for the kids and a nice stretch to follow for all! Bring with you a yoga mat or towel (for the ground) and a single weighted object (dumbbell, kettle bell, or even a water bottle) for each person.
Warmer weather is just about here to stay! Ms Stefanie is planning special outdoor storytimes which will probably happen on Fridays in the morning. Make sure to follow us on the library's Facebook page and also at Ms. Stefanie at the Library for quick notice of these special storytimes.
The 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program is a national initiative to support you and your baby, toddler, or preschooler in building reading skills one book at a time.
The Linwood Community Library encourages families to enjoy books together while having fun and nurturing a love of reading.
How to Participate:
Register at the library or sign up online.
Once your child is signed up, Ms. Stefanie will provide you with a welcome letter and full program details.
You'll pick up the first reading log at the library to get going. After reading 1,000 books with your child and completing the program, we'll celebrate!
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can participate in this program? Any child from birth until he/she enters Kindergarten.
I have more than one child I am reading to. Can I count the same title for each child? Yes. Each book you read counts for each child who hears the story.
Are there rules about the books we can read? No! Any book counts. Children sometimes love to hear the same book over and over, so each reading counts. Books heard at storytime, at daycare, or at the doctor's office all count!
Currently all in-person, inside the library programs are on hiatus until further notice due to Covid-19.
Kids can stop in to talk math with Ms. Stefanie. There will be homework help available, time for additional math questions and even some math appreciation -- games, activities or books -- depending on the time available.
Playgroup is targeted towards young children up to 5 years of age. It's a free form playgroup with games and activities. Kids can learn good socialization and play skills with other children and also get to know one another better.
Story time is targeted towards young children up to 5 years of age. Story time generally includes listening to a story, a craft or activity, and a snack.
